Employee of the Month

February

Billie Knudson & Shannon Mehring

The Chamber and Economic Development Corporation office awarded Billie Knudson and Shannon Mehring the honors of Employees of the Month for February. Their nomination states: “Shannon and Billie have gone above and beyond for me on numerous occasions. My kids have been non-stop sick, so I’ve recently had to call for numerous last minute appointments or questions. They both do their best to fit us in or have someone return my call. The never make me feel guilty for bringing them in or question if we really need to be seen again. You walk in and they greet with a smile asking ‘What can we do for you?’ I’ve called Shannon with billing questions and she jumps right in to help. I’ve asked Billie questions outside of work hours and she is always quick to offer reassurance or advice. Being a mom can sometimes be hard with sick kids, but having Shannon and Billie at the clinic makes it a little easier. Carrington is lucky to have people like Shannon and Billie!” This awesome team of two received a framed certificate and $20.00 each in Carrington Cash.

Ribbon Cuttings

Petals & Stems – Now Under New Ownership

The Carrington Chamber & EDC recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome new owner Denise Shipman and celebrate the new chapter of Petals & Stems—a beloved flower shop in Carrington. After years in the corporate world, Denise followed her passion for flowers and lifelong dream of owning her own business. “Flowers have always been my passion, and I finally took the chance to make it my career.” One of the quotes that inspired her during this journey was: “Grow through what you go through.(Rarely easy, but always worth it.) She also shared a scripture that continued to come up during her search for the right opportunity: “Let us run with patience the race set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1 “These were good reminders to never give up, and to have patience in the wait,” Denise added.

Under her ownership, Petals & Stems will continue to provide beautiful floral arrangements for all occasions, while also expanding its offerings. Denise’s vision includes growing the flower side of the business and introducing boutique and gift items.

We’re excited to welcome Denise and look forward to seeing her ideas bloom in Carrington!
